A Change Of Tide For Cardiff

Our brief for the two Mercure hotels was to create original designs that reflect each hotel’s individual personality and city location. Both interiors have their own strong regional routes and their own authentic narrative which evoke within the guest what’s most appealing about each destination. The design of each hotel is different but share some common elements such as case goods and bathroom finishes that helped to maximise on budget.

The second of the two Mercure hotels Spacebrand designed for Amaris Hospitality uses layering of textures and graduated colour to represent diverse industry, culture and race within the city and the surrounding area through the decades. Motion and formation through material elements are suggestive of the transformation of the tide, a symbol of Cardiff’s future legacy.
